Arlette Schijns gives lecture at Groningen Personal Injury Congress

On Oct. 1, next Arlette Schijns give a lecture at the Gronings Letselschadecongres, which has as theme traffic liability. All complications that may arise in the establishment of liability (Section 185 WVW and Section 6:174 BW) and in the settlement (first-party insurance) will be discussed by experts from practice and science.

The reading of Arlette Schijns is entitled ‘Toward First-Party Insurance for Traffic Accidents?’. It discusses the advantages and disadvantages of a system in which traffic accident damages are compensated through the victim's own indemnity insurer. She contrasts this with the current system, in which damages are paid through the liability insurer of the party causing the accident.
