Beer advocaten believes quality comes through specialisation: We specialise in liability law and personal injury law (bodily and fatal injuries). Because our focus is solely on this area of law, we can deliver legal assistance of the highest quality. Consulting with colleagues is an integral part of how we work. We set great store by permanent education: Our lawyers have all registered personal injury law as their practice area in the register of the Dutch Bar Association. Their registration requires them to obtain at least ten credits for training in this area.
We cannot handle personal injury and fatal injury cases without medical knowledge and expertise. It is extremely important to adequately determine the effects of incidents and examine the consequences, not just in the short term but also in the long term. To provide high-quality services effectively, Beer advocaten has its own team of medical advisors. They are GP’s, insurance physicians, or work at a hospital. We can call on our medical advisors any time, because their offices are fully integrated in ours. Whenever necessary – for instance in case of medical errors – we also call on external experts, of course.
The lawyers of our firm have worked on proceedings that led to ground-breaking rulings (Taxi bus), proceedings involving major calamities (the shooting in Alphen aan den Rijn, the MH17 crash, the Probo Koala toxic waste dump, the Turkish Airlines crash, the New Year’s Eve fire at a café in Volendam, the Enschede fireworks disaster, the Seattle Ride the Ducks crash, the air crash in the Bijlmermeer, the monster truck incident in Haaksbergen, the legionnaire’s outbreak at the Westfriese Flora flower show), attacks (tram shooting in Utrecht, attack at Amsterdam Central Station), sport-related incidents (involving several professional football players and cyclists) and proceedings involving medical aids and medication (Vioxx, pelvic mesh products, Hyacorp, Pandemrix vaccine, Björk Shiley heart valves).
Our firm is located right in the centre of Amsterdam. But of course we provide assistance to victims and their loved ones from all over the Netherlands. We have an extensive international network, and together with other law firms we frequently represent victims and their loved ones in other countries.
The major part of our lawyers are members of the two associations in our area of practice, the Association of Personal Injury Victims (ASP) and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (LSA). Our lawyers are furthermore members of different professional associations, in the Netherlands (Mediator Federation Netherlands (MfN), Dutch Lawyers Association (NJV), Dutch Lawyers Human Rights Committee (NJCM), Dutch Association of Mediators in the Insurance Industry (NVMV), Dutch Association of Mediation Lawyers (NVVMA), Dutch Litigation Law Association (NVvP), Healthcare Law Association (VGR), Liability and Compensation Law Association (VASR), Association of Young Personal Injury Professionals (VJPP), Physicians Lawyers Working Group (WAA) and the Association for Sport and Law), but also internationally: American Association for Justice (AAJ), Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and the Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL).
