Lawyers may not agree on fixed prices with their clients based on no cure no pay. With one exception. Since 1 January 2014 lawyers may offer a form of no cure no pay in cases involving personal injury and damages resulting from death. Called outcome-related hourly fee or RUB in the Netherlands, this arrangement is an experiment and several conditions apply. You will not have to pay anything if no result is achieved, and in case of success you will pay a maximized part of the proceeds only.
To prevent lawyers from running off with a percentage of the profit without making much of an effort, clients pay based on the hours worked. If a case takes a lot of time, clients will never pay more than a maximum percentage of the proceeds. This means that clients know exactly what to expect.
Under certain circumstances Beer advocaten also uses the RUB system. If you would like to know more about the possibilities and conditions of RUB, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will decide on a case-by-case basis whether or not we can use the RUB system.
