Aviation accidents

Air crashes have a huge impact on victims and their loved ones, but also on society as a whole. They are shocking events, also because they usually claim many lives or change lives forever. Usually there are international aspects to air crashes. Beer advocaten’s aviation team has years of experience providing legal assistance to victims of international air crashes and their loved ones. Investigating and determining liability for such major incidents calls for specialist knowledge and expertise. Beer advocaten has that knowledge and expertise, as well as solid partnerships with lawyers and experts in several countries.

Our firm has represented the victims and their loved ones in the following aviation accidents: 

On 17 March 2015 a Dutch Apache helicopter crashed in Mali. The two Dutch army officers on board died. Beer advocated represented their loved ones.  

On 17 July 2014 flight MH17, a Boeing 777-200ER of Malaysia Airlines, was shot down over the Ukraine. Beer advocaten represents a large group of loved ones of the victims. We had to make arrangements with the airline for compensation, provide legal assistance in the criminal proceedings, and filed a complaint against Russia with the European Human Rights Court in Strasbourg. 

On 12 May 2010 an Airbus A330-200 of Afriqiyah Airways crashed while landing at Tripoli. Over 100 passengers, including 70 Dutch nationals, died. Beer advocated represented the loved ones of over 150 victims.

On 25 February 2009 a Boeing 737-800 of Turkish Airlines crashed near Schiphol airport. Most passengers survived, but many sustained severe physical and psychological injuries. Beer advocaten represented more than 30 victims.  

Two Dutch passengers survived the air crash at Phuket airport (Thailand) on 16 September 2007 with a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 of the airline One-Two-Go. 90 passengers died. Beer advocaten represented the Dutch survivors.    

On 21 December 1992 a DC10 of Martinair crashed at Faro airport (Portugal). 56 people died and over 200 were injured. Beer advocaten represented the injured passengers.
